Introduction

The story of how the manuscript of Hamlet, King of Denmarke came into my possession, and what has become of it since, is too long to tell here; Dr. Buettner has told it well enough (with some forgivable embellishments) in his new book. However, the manuscript’s very existence remains controversial and without resolution.

Rather than keep this controversy locked exclusively within the ivory tower of academia, or throw it to the dogs of mass media and propaganda, I have created this blog and discussion forum to share selections of the manuscript to expose the work to public scrutiny, debate, discussion, and participation.

I may invite major contributions from others, such as my assistant April, as needed.

For interested readers, I have included a selection of links to resources on related topics of Shakespeare scholarship, Hamlet, the Ur-Hamlet as well as to a limited number of Shakespeare festivals.
